Profile &
History
pink gallery shows works of art from international artists, with the intention
to present them to all kind of art-lovers. It is a platform for artists to
show selected parts of their work in relation to the work of other artists.
The diversity of confronting positions and strategies is a natural basis for
developing vital exhibitions. Beyond that pink gallery is an art project of
Can Henne: the development of thrilling exhibitions with contemporary artists
of different sujets and this precept implied ambiguity action; so to speak
scrutinizing methods of tradition, habits of markets, etc..
pink gallery is known for its fondness for relocation; and has not a habit
to swim with the main stream. In times where every square meter is of importance
and where Berlin competes with better spaces and locations, pink gallery has
chosen an alternative. It defines the place and the format when and where
in time, unaffected from trends…
In 2004 the
first exhibition were held in an empty store in Lychener Str. 20 in Berlin
Prenzlauer Berg. The first action was kind of an art-festival with Visual-
and Performing Arts as well as a Shortfilmscreening, Dramatic Reading and
a Poetry Show. This was labeled "hotelcancan"at that time. Early
2006, pink gallery started as a reason to support at first two artists and
then evolved to a project where irregularly curated artshows took place. The
first exhibition with Paintings and Installations where shown in a spiffy
groundfloor space in Linienstraße near to the most regarded galleries
of the city. 2007 a new location at a corner of Brunnenstraße, in the
middle of an emerging area of art spaces in Berlin was encountered. An abandoned,
converted cargo container on a free property nearby the center of the city,
wild east style! In the following exhibition, parallel to the common Berliner
Kunstherbst, 10 young and middle aged artists showed their work to interested
passersby and artlovers. Soon pink gallery vanished from there and the place
again became a desert..The next project took place in the world wide web and
is still active as the Collection of pink gallery. In 2011 the next 2 exhibitions
set up again in Lychener Str. - this time in Nr.14 in the private studio of
Can Henne.
